On November 12, 2025, Elena Laporta Hern\u00e1ndez gave a lecture entitled \u201cFemicide at the Crossroads\u201d at the invitation of the Museo de la Mujer M\u00e9xico.<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Almost 20 years have passed since the legal recognition of feminicide began in Latin America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today we are at a turning point. On the one hand, with resistance and threats of regression, in a critical global context of setbacks for women’s rights. On the other hand, a global, regional, national, and local feminist movement, with one foot on the street and the other in institutions, is confronting the reactionary agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Within this framework, the conference traced the history of feminicide as a political and legal category in Latin America, addressed its impact and regulation in Europe, and explored the obstacles and challenges that remain. Finally, it engaged in a collective discussion with participants on potential strategies for action in the coming years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
